Hi,Our names are Norman and Paula.
We've entered some of our photos from different trips we've made.

Canals of France
We flew to England at the end of March 1985, bought a 32'sailboat, crossed the English channel and spent the next 5 months traveling thru the canals and rivers of France from the channel to the Mediterranean and then thru another canal (the Midi) to the Atlantic Ocean, up the coast back to the English channel to England where we left the boat for sale.
European motorcycle trip 1978-79
We flew to Amsterdam, Netherlands in August 1978 to buy a motorcycle for a year long trip. Because of prices, we instead went to England to buy the motorcycle. We toured southern England to break it in and then crossed the English channel and drove south east to Greece, then west to Marracech, Morocco for the winter. Next spring we went north to Bordeaux and then east to Corfu, Greece, then north to Berlin and west to France before taking the motorcycle back to England and selling it. Total trip was about 18,000 miles.
Hong Kong and Japan 1982
After Norm's job assignment in Hong Kong, Paula flew over for a few weeks vacation. We looked around in Hong Kong, took a short time into China and then flew to Japan where we stayed in Tokyo for a week, and then took the bullet train south to Nagasaki and back to Tokyo.
South America 1996
We left our sailboat in Trinidad during the hurricane season and traveled in South America. The first leg was by bus thru Venezuela to Brazil. We flew to Manaus on the Amazon and then flew to La Paz, Bolivia. From there we took short hops by either train, bus or airplane to Santiago, Chile. We then flew all the way south to the Straits of Magellan and came back north on a ferry boat. We then hopped thru Argentina to Brazil visiting Rio and Recife. We flew back to Manaus and then back to Trinidad.
Circumnavigation by sailboat 1988-1997
We left San Francisco in October 1988, wintered in Mexico and then sailed west across the Pacific, visiting New Zealand and Australia. Then north thru the Indonesian islands to Singapore and up the Malayasian penisula to Thailand, across the Indian Ocean to the Red sea, the Suez canal and Turkey where we spent the winter in Izmir. Then across the Mediterranean to Gibraltar, across the Atlantic to the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean then west to the Panama canal and finally north back to California.

How to view slides

There are several ways to view the slides:

Using the Brower

This page is the starting point for all the slide shows. The above paragraph headers are links to pages for each show. The first page of each show has three ways of viewing the show:

Automatic show using a Java Applet

This only works with later versions of Internet Explorer that has had its security settings relaxed. However, it does scale the photos to the screen so that they don't have to be scrolled.
Using the Java Applet viewer:
The speed of advance can be made Faster or Slower. Selected titles can be found. The show can be stopped and started and the position can be moved to the Next or the Last slide.

Automatic show using JavaScript

This works for later versions of both Netscape and Internet Explorer (in most cases). This method uses the browser to format the screen which can cause the pictures to extend to the right or down and require scrolling to view.
Using the JavaScript viewer:
The control icons are at the bottom of the browser page. The up and down arrows control the display speed. The Red/Green circle stops and starts the automatic show. The Next and Previous buttons move to the next or previous page. The magglass will Find a selected slide and the question mark displays information.

Individually selecting slides from the 2 column table

The first image is a map with hot spots to jump directly to a selected area. Move the cursor over the route traced on the map and click when the "hand" appears.
